A word from Shimon
Hello.
I have been on the music scene for the past 16 years. I am a Berklee College
of Music graduate, and during my musical career, I have played with great
musicians in the New England area, local big bands, blues and world music
groups. I lead my own group that is spirited,
innovative, and musical. We regularly play in many venues in the greater
Boston area. My latest release "Ways" is
now available and is receiving excellent reviews.
I teach bass and guitar privately at my
studio in Acton, and group's guitar classes at the Acton Community Education
program. I'm also a faculty member of the John Payne Music Center in Brookline,
teaching adult jazz and blues ensembles.
My teaching career has been varied.
From Public Schools at the elementary and junior high level to conservatories
and a numerous private students.
I'm proud to say that some of my former
students are now playing with bands and orchestras.
I am proficient in
and enjoy teaching many genres of music. I consider myself to be student
of the arts and learn from others. I encourage my students to practice,
participate, listen or attend all styles of music performances. My method
cover everything from traditional to contemporary styles, I hope to foster
the joy of music for life in my students by introducing them to improvisation
early on, and develop skills that will allow them to express more of themselves
through the music. I believe music and art is important as Math, English,
Science or any other important subject. I hope you feel the same.
